TellKujira – Francesco Diodati

tellKujira nasce nell’autunno 2020. Da allora ha autoprodotto una serie di residenze artistiche, concentrandosi su improvvisazione e scrittura collettiva, instant composition, timbro, strumenti preparati, accordature alternative. È in questo solco che è nato un percorso musicale flessibile, alla continua ricerca di struttura, aperto alle contaminazioni e che mira a scoprire una miscela unica composta da paesaggi sonori astratti, a tratti ambient, poliritmi, timbriche industrial. Una miscela versatile, che non esita a de-costruire qualsiasi tipo di linguaggio. “Abbiamo immaginato una sorta di rock band in forma di quartetto classico, con due chitarre elettriche al posto dei due violini. In virtù di questa scelta cameristica, ogni individualismo è stato messo da parte in favore di un “Noi”, di un centro focale che fosse anche il centro della nostra musica. La ricerca collettiva in un’ottica forzatamente non volta da subito alla performance è diventato il vettore principale per l’emancipazione del quartetto dalle singole individualità e per la ricerca di un linguaggio comune.” Il gruppo, seppur giovane, si è già esibito nei piu prestigiosi festival italiani ed esteri (Moers Festival, Sudtiroljazzfestival, Centro d'arte, Umbria Jazz, Torino Jazz Festival) ed è stato invitato presso il prestigioso IRCAM di Parigi per una residenza di 3 settimane supportata da Creative Europe. Il primo disco omonimo esce a Novembre 2023 per la Superpang records.

tellKujira was born in autumn 2020.Since then it has self-produced a series of artistic residencies, focusing on improvisation and collective writing, instant composition, timber, prepared instruments, alternative tunings. It is in this process that a flexible musical path was born, in a continuous search for structure, open to contamination and which aims to discover a unique blend composed of abstract soundscapes, at times ambient, poly-rhythms, industrial timbres. A versatile blend, which does not hesitate to deconstruct any type of language. “We imagined a kind of rock band in the form of a classic quartet, with two electric guitars instead of two violins. By virtue of this chamber choice, every individualism has been set aside in favor of a “We”, a focal center that was also the center of our music. Collective research from a perspective that is not necessarily aimed at performance immediately has become the main vector for the emancipation of the quartet from individual individuals and for the search for a common language. “ The group, albeit young, has already performed in the most prestigious Italian and foreign festivals (Moers Festival, Sudtiroljazzfestival, Centro d'arte, Umbria Jazz, Turin Jazz Festival) and has been invited to the prestigious IRCAM in Paris for a residency of 3 weeks supported by Creative Europe. The first self-titled album comes out in November 2023 for Superpang records.
